OLD SHOW

So I don't know if you know this but I used to play with this band called Strangers in Uniform and we played like three shows and this was one of them. Pre-voice change, very first weeks of voice lessons. SICKENING.

BEAUTIFUL & TERRIFYING

Hey guys

So last time I checked in with y'all, I had just shown you guys the hype dates for my SUPER local tour going on right now, and I just wanted to break down my first real live show ever!! I performed with this really cool and good band that I just met two months ago called the Wave Magnets or Wavemagnets I'm actually not 100% that a decision was really made on the spelling. Watch my show or listen to it in the background while you read the rest of this postttt:

So this performance was basically the most terrifying moment of my entire life because I mean outside of bars and stuff that I perform my songs like... I don't know like people aren't usually there strictly for the purpose of seeing me. Those shows are easy- the ones where you can play your music and people are going to be there anyway, you don't have to worry about draw.

This show was actually the pre-show to the red carpet premiere of a documentary about Star Wars called The Force Within Us, and the premise is like how Star Wars has impacted the nation from a childhood versus and adulthood standpoint. It was really interestingly presented.

ANYWAY, I had only had three rehearsals with this band, and I had to learn these songs in full with solos in basically a month so I was really cramming to make sure it came out looking good, because this kind of red carpet thing is sort of a big deal- I didn't want to just stand there and be boring.

I played through three songs, and even though the second one was sort of a mess, it was good because me and the bassist were really good at like talking to the audience and making sure our clinical awkwardness wasn't getting to them. The audience stopped clapping for the verses of Seven Nation Army, I called them out on making me look awkward. I unplugged my guitar completely during Come Together- I very openly let them know. The goal was to make the show seem like conversational- not like I was just someone singing on stage for entertainment- but an actual person that you could know from anywhere.

If there's anything I've learned from this kind of show it's that if you mess up, it's not the end of the world. As long as you just keep pushing forward and don't allow the song to stop, you're okay. The Arcada is beautiful and huge and REALLY REALLY SCARY. It was decorated like a Disney princess movie.

I'm announcing more dates in the next week or so, so that'll be exciting. Mildly at the very least.

Ω,
Kata

Project Gunplay Lyrics

There was a time
When I could still feel the light
At the end of the tunnel

There was a time
When there was still something
To run from

But I'm done writing sad songs
Cos his story's worth more than a teary-eyed singalong

Want you to gimme
Pop fiction
That friction
The feeling
I'm missing
That storybook smile in your eyes
That Tyra
Cos with that look in your eyes
You can't lie, huh?
You say you can't lie, huh?

And still I smile
Waiting for the chance to push my luck
But I'm my father's son

Work the beat
Work the sound
Project Runway
But still I roll in the deep
Project Gunplay
And I'm on the run

But I'm done writing sad songs
Cos his story's worth more than a teary-eyed singalong

Mmm
Want you to gimme
Pop fiction
That friction
The feeling
I'm missing
That storybook smile in your eyes
That Tyra
Cos with that look in your eyes
You can't lie, huh?
You say you can't lie, huh?
Want you to gimme pop fiction...
Can't lie (x∞)
You say you can't lie, huh?

THE WILD SIDE LYRICS

I miss those
heart wrenching stories
and Mardi Gras strings
The smiles on our face
and all of our dreams
But everything I miss about you
I miss about New Orleans

It was my
gut churning passion
my quiet serpentine
my love for perfection
and respect for drag queens
but everything I miss about you
I miss about New Orleans
New Orleans

We all miss the wild times when we would
Pin in a flower
Into our hair and we'd all
stay up for hours
We all miss the wild side when we would
feel the midnight's power
And we'd work the Bourbon street
into our darkest hour

DUDE WHAT THE HELL

HEY SO MY ALBUM CAME OUT LOL JUST THOUGHT I'D LET YOU KNOW IT CAME OUT LAST YEAR AND I NEVER MADE A POST ON HERE ABOUT IT WHAT A LOSER LOL

yeah it came out on december 21 as promised but there were a couple changes to it haha

this here is the album cover for the first version of Bloodlines
it's called Bloodlines: Core Elements

here is the track listing
1. Temperance
2. Sick
3. Bloodlines
4. VODKA/REAL LIFE
5. Reality in the Trenches
6. Up
7. The Wild Side
8. Midnight Fission
9. Opaque Winter

the physical version includes two bonus songs
10. Wish You Well (Remastered from the PARIS mixtape)
11. spaceouttt

so let me be honest with you guys here
i had been promising to release this for like two years up until december 21
and i like really really wanted a december 21 release because the apocalypse reference was cool
but my production was seriously majorly lagging and i didn't want to have to be like oops sorry
plus the release date was in the newspapers and stuff so i had to put SOMETHING out
so i took the nine songs I had and I made Core Elements... it's sort of like a teaser to full Bloodlines, which is going to be released on iTunes this spring, if all goes well.

Now
here's my issue with Core Elements
it includes only THE MOST PERSONAL SONGS I HAVE REALLY EVER WRITTEN
and there is like one pop song to distract from the dark black hole that is my soul
so it makes me feel really scared that this is what people are hearing lol
there is no commercial filler it's like bare bones sadness
i kind of like the rawness of it but it's scary because there's no fluff on here haha

So I'm really proud of it though, and I'm even more proud of the full version. This sounds really stuck up and self-centered but the demos for some of the new songs seriously gave me chills. I mean I think I'm a pretty good songwriter but Liz did some REALLY AWESOME production work on these new songs. I'll make some announcements about it soon but you know how I am with that. Hashtag discreet.

Anyway so the album is definitely out so if you want it, just click on the album art I have a link to it. if that doesn't work you should tell me lol. there's a link in the text under it just to be safe. I love you guys so so much and I promise I'll stop neglecting my blog.

RBTV INTERVIEW

Hey babes

So today I DID MY FIRST LOCAL CABLE ACCESS TELEVISION INTERVIEW AS A CENSORED SUNLIGHT SDNBASBFVIBSDFVBFJBDSFV AND IT WAS CRAZY AND REALLY CASUAL AND AWESOME SO LIKE I'M SUPER EXCITED EXCEPT ALL OF FOUR PEOPLE ARE GONNA WATCH IT BUT WHATEVER MAN I'M EXCITED.

So, basically we've been trying to get it filmed for like three weeks now and they finally got me in there (The show is called THE LATE HOUR) and they just like made me talk about the album and stuff and like the inner workings of my soul and the process for my writing and all that... we had to shoot it twice because I called the record "nine songs to kill yourself to" and the producers started like freaking out and we had to re-shoot it.

But that wasn't the only reason why, thank God haha I didn't actually ruin it all... the interviewer forgot to put like a segue comment at the end because I'm filming my performance separately so we had to re-do it the next day... you know. Just... crazy stuff. My love Annabelle was there and she was the floor director from the show and we were like breaking down my fashion choices and how I was like nervously rambling through the ten minute interview... it was good because everyone else there like didn't understand my humor and just thought I was like seriously bipolar or sarcastic to the point of terrible.

Anyway, so next week I'm filming the actual performance part and you guys are gonna get to watch the interviewer hold the super awesome physical copy of the album and then watch me play a song from the iTunes release of Bloodlines. The song's called Tokyo Sways and I wrote it like near the end of writing for Bloodlines and I considered putting it on Core Elements but decided against it.

This spring I'm supposed to be releasing Bloodlines on iTunes with like five new songs on it... those songs being this new one, the one I played at the Tavern performance ("When In Rome...") and a few others you guys haven't heard before. It'll be good because they're like way happier and stuff so it'll be a nice break from how sadistic Core Elements is. The new songs are going to be released as a standalone EP too so if you already own Core Elements, you don't have to re-buy. After my episode airs with the new song I'll probably release a bunch of info about that. Maybe make the EP available for pre-order.

Anyway I'm like SUPER excited for you guys to see this. I don't have the transcript for the interview but I'll just make one when I see the tapes and whatever... IT'S GONNA BE REAL Y'ALL.

Check yo ponytail bitch I'm on The Late Hour on RBTV
